Albertson’s throughout the Treasure Valley

CCI is recruiting volunteers to help staff the booths and donation bins for the June 25th donation day.  Please contact Blanca or Cynthia in Nampa at (208) 466-9926 or Marcia in Boise at (208) 350-7490 if you are interested in volunteering.

Today’s 6 and FOX9 (along with 94.9 the River, 107.1 K-HITS, 100.3 The X, and Variety Rock 105.1) are partnering with Blue Cross of Idaho, St. Alphonsus and Albertson’s to help Treasure Valley babies and families. For the 8th consecutive year, Journal Broadcast Group is holding a week long Community Baby Shower. The Community Baby Shower collects donated baby supplies to be distributed to area families in need; monetary donations can be made as well. Donation recipients receive baby items for participating in CCI parenting classes or achieving self-sufficiency goals. Last year, more than 1,000 packages of diapers, 800+ boxes of wet wipes, sets of new clothing, blankets and formula were collected. You can support our work at CCI and help build strong, healthy families in the Treasure Valley by participating in the Community Baby Shower.

Accepted donations include:

  • Diapers and Wipes
  • NEW Clothing
  • Formula
  • Baby Personal Care Products
  • Cash Donations

Babies in the Treasure Valley will continue to have a better beginning with the help of our community and parish members. Please help us spread the word about the Community Baby Shower to your family, friends, colleagues and fellow parishioners!

USCIS has recently issued the regulations and application process for DACA renewals.

VERY IMPORTANT: Individuals should submit their DACA renewal request 120 days (4 months) before their current period of deferred action will expire.

Click here for more information on DACA renewals and/or contact Catholic Charities of Idaho’s Immigration Legal Services for more information at  208-466-9926.

What is DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals)?

On June 15, 2012, the Secretary of Homeland Security announced that certain people who came to the United States as children and meet several key guidelines may request consideration of deferred action for a period of two years, subject to renewal, and would then be eligible for work authorization.

Individuals who can demonstrate through verifiable documentation that they meet these guidelines will be considered for deferred action. Determinations will be made on a case-by-case basis under the DACA guidelines.

Individuals can call U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) at 1-800-375-5283 with questions or to request more information on DACA.

Catholic Charities of Idaho Announces New Leadership: Respected Msgr. Andy Schumacher to Serve as Interim Executive Director

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BOISECatholic Charities of Idaho (CCI) announced a change in the leadership team of the agency. Stephanie Dockweiler is leaving the agency and longtime Diocese of Boise Msgr. Andy Schumacher will step in to lead while a search for a permanent director begins.

“In the last twelve months we have undertaken an intensive effort to focus the agency on our core strengths and structure the agency to align better with the most important tasks we do – Providing Help, Creating Hope and Promoting Justice – with efficiency, compassion and empathy for those who are most in need,” said Msgr. Andy Schumacher. “We are continuing to provide the professional services we have offered since 2000 in Idaho, and we continue to work with our partner agencies, parishes and clients all over the state,” Msgr. Schumacher concluded.

With the support of the Diocese of Boise and the continued engagement of clergy around the state, CCI is continuing the ongoing work of building a sustainable model of social services to allow a small group of committed staff to assist people in need all around the state of Idaho.

“Our entire board of directors wishes Stephanie the very best as she takes on her next challenge. In less than a year she was able to update our financial controls, complete detailed audits of services and staff and implement some very difficult decisions on program focus areas for the agency,” said John Fiedler, CCI Board Chairman. “With the assistance of a volunteer board, key donors and a network of partners around the state, CCI is now rededicated to a focus on our areas of strength in services while exploring new mobile and partnered service delivery approaches to reflect the great scope and diversity of needs around the Diocese,” Fiedler continued.

The CCI office is located in the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Boise, with family strengthening centers in several locations around the state. Msgr. Andy Schumacher will lead the organization and travel the state to visit staff and parishes over the next 60 days gathering input and assisting in sharing the core mission of the agency.  Diocesan Chancellor Marcie Wilske and Board Chairman John Fiedler will address day-to-day management issues in the Boise office at 1501 Federal Way, Suite 450.

The permanent position of Executive Director will be posted for interested job applicants early in the summer, and a nationwide candidate search is expected.

Many women in Idaho struggle to build lives of hope against incredible odds. Financial and emotional hardships rob these women of the dignity and joy that should be theirs every day.

This Mother’s Day provides us with an opportunity to honor the special women in our lives. For many, it is a day of celebration surrounded by loving family and neighbors. But for others, it is just another day of suffering.

“Do not let yourselves be robbed of hope! And not only that, but I say to us all: Let us not rob others of hope, let us become bearers of hope.” – Pope Francis

As the social service arm of the Catholic Church, Catholic Charities of Idaho’s (CCI) work is about creating hope and strengthening financial and emotional well-being. Let us share with you one special story of a mother and her daughter who came to CCI full of despair but left with faith and optimism. Read Kimberly’s story.
